Day Tour at Guigong Library Experience
Today, I experienced a wonderful day tour of Guigong Library. Since I was going to attend the in the evening at the National Art Center, I planned my daytime activities accordingly and worked at the library all day. For lunch, I had a nice meal at (Suzhou.com)’s barbecue house, which turned out to be quite satisfying. However, when trying to recall the dish names, I initially confused with (Shanqin), leading to some confusion.
In the evening, my friend assured me that as long as I avoided eating carbon water in the afternoon, I wouldn’t feel too refreshed later. But the barbecue place seemed to have a queue system where people were literally " " mental disconnection after eating, leaving me feeling perplexed and frustrated. The barbecue was located in Weigongvillage, surrounded by densely packed university students who made it seem like a lively environment. However, navigating through the student crowd felt almost like being in an urban rat hole with limited open spaces.
The National Art Center was closer than I expected. Walking for over twenty minutes, I found myself amidst what seemed like a residential area, making me realize that the university campus was built right next to such areas without much green space. The north gallery of the library caught my attention as I passed by (Beijing Dance College), where students were waiting outside after their exams for their parents, some even with bouquets in hand. This made me reflect on how many people gave up their hard work to try to attend this prestigious institution.
Upon arriving at Guigong Library, I was surprised to find how packed the main building was during peak hours. No empty seats were available, and simply waiting for morning arrivals must have been extremely frustrating. After exploring the library and not being able to concentrate on my tasks due to the long wait, I decided to head back to the yard. There, I noticed a display of ancient books on the shelf near the entrance and quickly checked out a few without giving them much thought.
The evening was spent in preparation for the at the National Art Center’s (Jing ). The first half featured traditional with some interesting animations interspersed. I felt lucky to have caught this performance, but it also made me realize how different my experience was from being a fan attending such events. As an amateur, I found myself out of place among the knowledgeable crowd who seemed more focused on specific works.
The was a unique and enriching experience that combined traditional music with modern animations. The grand hall was filled with people, each paying different prices for various cosplayer attendances. I tried to strike up a conversation with the character (JiuMei), but my confusion about her cos led me to wonder if I had made the right decision in joining this event.
Despite the mixed emotions and a bit of anxiety, I managed to stay focused on my tasks until closing time. Reflecting on the day’s events, there was still so much I wanted to learn and experience. The journey home after the performance brought an unexpected treat when I found some snacks waiting for me, allowing me to enjoy a satisfying dinner.
As night fell, I treated myself to a meal at a nearby food stall, reflecting on how quickly time had passed since arriving in Beijing. While the city’s winter nights are often calm and peaceful, this particular evening felt different with its mix of cold winds and a sense of endings. The experience was both exciting and slightly daunting, leaving me eager for tomorrow while also acknowledging that this moment might be one I’ll cherish longingly.
